An Awakening..

At times I feel that we aren’t quite living every second completely.

We might live in our fantasies for minutes at a time in every single day. We may even catch ourselves just wasting away what time we have left happily walking a path we made in our minds. Maybe that was a little too blunt, but you get the drift. Many of us are in a constant search for another level of consciousness, a different perspective, an awakening of sorts. It had always felt that my mind seemed to wonder a bit too much, but I felt it was natural, a shared habit with far too many to count.

It took quite a while to change the lens that I view life through. I am truly seeing beauty in almost everything, a world full of color. It has allowed me to lighten the burdens hanging on my shoulders. You see, I seek perfection, something largely unattainable, but I yearn for it nonetheless. The experiences we have as people are all opportunities to find the positives in each situation. They are our paths to growth, though we don’t acknowledge that in the moment, it is beautiful. If there is a moment that changes the perspective in our lives, I hope that everyone finds their truths in it. Life should be experienced completely each second and the tick of every clock should be enjoyed as if that was the first stroke of color in our lives.

..Until next time

Wiping the Slate Clean

Let’s think about what wiping the slate clean means.

Everyday we may encounter certain situations that just bring down our moods or take us out of character.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. – Aristotle

You must be able to remove yourself from that negativity and put your mind in a state of balance. It is completely understandable to be upset or have mood changes throughout a period of time, but it cannot define who you truly are. Entertaining a thought without accepting takes patience and it takes a certain type of self-control.

Essentially, you see it, you hear it, you comprehend it, but it is not prevailing.

We all have the ability to maintain the mental balance that is conducive to progression, we rarely ever make a conscious effort to preserve that balance.

I encourage you to wipe the slate clean daily, remove the past and enjoy the present, understand that keeping that balance is key to living a life that keeps you in a forward progression.

To be unscripted

Sometimes you can feel as though you’re a puppet to life, taking a path that you indeed did not create. You are in control though, everything that you do involves a decision that isn’t scrutinized, until days past.

Descartes once believed thinking is his essence as it is the only thing about him that cannot be doubted.

One though, leading to several more, none can be labeled as scripted. Yes, there’s something like a script, only it’s a blank canvas. A script would confine your expression into the limits of your imagination(measurements).

You live and you write, each and every day. Many strive for perfection, it being understood that you live once, so you should try and achieve the best. I believe that some are content with taking a conscious breath. A breath, in itself, is subconscious, but it is necessary to of this.

You do not count your breaths, but you count your faults. Enjoy every second, time’s ticking.

Just take the high road

Take the high road.

How many times have you heard that line? – > A lot, I know.

It seems to be present in every situation that arises though. If I can’t decide on which path to take, I take the highroad, logical and conservative at the same time. Besides, it never hurts to play it safe, right?

As a matter of fact, it does, at times. You play it safe and risk the chance of missing out on an opportunity.  Scared to jump, believe that there’s nothing to fall back on and catch you. You think, not only for yourself, but for those around you. Yet, you know that you only live once. You can act now or never, which is the choice we make everyday over and over again.  Shall we stop here or keep going?

My message to you is that there’s a STOP behind every corner. You can watch traffic or you can make that move and go into traffic, but you could also lose sitting at the stopsign.  The clock steadily ticks, while we steadily wait, but for what?

It’s so hard not to act wreckless…

There’s a time and place for everything, right?

I didn’t even watch the VMA’s and heard about it right when it happened. IT, being the stunt that KanYe West pulled on Taylor Swift, but it’s just another fiasco added to Kanye’s long list of media blunders.

Let make me one bold statement – I cannot hate the man for doing it, but I can’t condone it either.

We know what to expect from Mr.West and we can’t expect him to wake because he is who is he is, allowing for the phrase, “everything I’m not, made me everything I am” to ring even more true.

Seems like Kanye’s back to his old self, which could be good or bad for his image/music. If you really think about the artists who were GREAT in their own right, they all had their faults outside of the music and that’s what distinguished them so much. You can’t judge a person by their cover, better yet WE can’t judge people period.  The acts we commit distinguish our legacy on Earth whether they were in good taste or piss poor in judgement.

Sometimes it’s hard for one to control their emotions in the heat of the moment.  Not many of us are blessed with the calm and level headed trait, it’s understood.  We do have the freedom of speech, do we not? Yes, they do say there’s a time and place for EVERYTHING, but that time and place isn’t always guranteed, correct?  Your opinion makes you as an individual, different from others, BUT we do not always get placed upon a pedestal where we’re heard.  The blunt speak for the silent and the silent listen for the deaf, it’s only right.

Take a minute to think of some of the things you’ve done in life and realize that not everyone’s character is perfect, we all have work to do.

So if you’re hoping for Mr.West to change any after this situation.

Don’t worry, he’s already said, “you can’t tell me nothing“.

There’s a time for everything…

Sometimes in life you have to slow down and just take a break.

We watch the clock but don’t think about how long we spend watching it.

Life goes extremely fast and a lot of the time we do not even try to take in EVERY second of it.

Well, sometimes we have setbacks you know, minor things that FORCE you to take a little rest.  I believe you shouldn’t just ignore that sign when it comes, but you should stop and realize what it’s saying.  Remember how when we were kids and we never wanted to go to sleep because we were afraid that we would miss out on something?

What happened to that mindset?

You always hear the phrase, “there’s not enough time in the day”, but you hardly ever see people gaining the proper thoughts to slow life down into moments. We do a lot of things in life and don’t realize the significance until after the fact, and that goes for almost every situation.  For now, we live to see tomorrow, but why not live for today? The human memory has the capacity to hold a ton of information – see here .

Food for thought – there are 86,400 seconds in a day.  There’s no possible way to remember ever second, but you CAN think about the things you do and remember that your day could only be 86,399 seconds long.

Take a break, enjoy the time that you do have every now and then.

Life’s obstacles

In life, we go through some things, to most…obstacles. Without those obstacles, life would be boring and in my opinion, meaningless.

You can go over, under, around, and between them. In many cases, they come at the most uneventful times and just drag your situation further in the ground, but hey, it’s life.

What do we expect? For life to have an easy button to everything?!

Not one single person is born and dies without a single obstacle hindering them at some point in life. It’s a challenge and who doesn’t like a challenge? -Success isn’t truly appreciated without a challenge, right?

Maybe you felt as though you’ve gone through a lot more than others, maybe that is actually the case, BUT there is always someone out there going or has gone through something worse than YOU. We must learn to appreciate the obstacles we do face because it allows us to “show what we’ve got”. A person really doesn’t realize their strengths till their weaknesses become prevalent. Everyone has a weakness and we’re all meant to enjoy the short time we do have in life.

Look at it this way-

Since you live once, would you rather;

A) Go through the life on easy street, with little obstacles and pass on without having really tested yourself

B) Go through life thorougly being tested by a challenge around every corner, realizing your true potential and progressing yourself

-> In my opinion, B sounds better because then it would mean my life is worth something and the things that I did accomplish in life felt right, considering the effort that I put in. It takes a special force inside of a person to overcome an obstacle, but we all have to cross that bridge at some time. You may have a helping hand to overcome the obstacle, you may not, but remember that the obstacle is what makes you who you are.

The biggest limit to people overcoming is their own minds. We as people, use outside as influence as crutches that usually have a negative impact on the mindset we taking, in regards to obstacles. As said in society, “go with your gut feeling”. I understand that the odds may be stacked against you, but it only takes a split second for the sun to peak from behind the clouds. Value the clear, mild, and even stormy weather because that’s all you’ve got and there is no choice as to which one you receive.

Second Chances

Take a look at this picture

Sometimes we must cross bridges in order to get to our dreams and at times, it may seem scary, but everyone  has to cross a certain bridge sometime in their life.

Each day that you take a step, is another day where your footprint can be cemented in history forever.

Let’s stop and think about the title for a second, “Second Chances“. Many thoughts may have come to you when you think of second chances, but think about how many second chances YOU have gotten.

Isn’t every day that you wake up alive, a new chance at life? – Stick with me here people

Suppose yesterday was bad for you and you couldn’t wait to get that day over and move on to today, right?

The common phrase may have ran through your head, “today is better than yesterday,” because you wanted another chance to have a better day.

Now that we are more than likely on the same page, let’s get into the substance of this topic.

We all have made our mistakes and wished that we could correct them with a second chance, but many believe that you should not regret, only to learn from your mistakes. I mean that’s the way we can’t help, but to feel at times, because of the harsh reality of not being able to go back in time and correct our wrongs. In a lot of respects, the belief that we should just learn and not regret, is often the best choice we can make. I happen to be a firm believer in what you do tomorrow can overshadow what you did today and days past.  Seriously, you only live once and the time that we do have, really isn’t much help if we’re spending so much time trying to relive past mistakes and make ammends. The stress that one puts into their errors deprives from the effort that they put into their future.

You may have been in a bad situation, maybe a bad relationship, that went wrong or ended because of something you did. Well, you can apologize but the sad truth is that, it’s done and you can only become a better person for that. I will be discussing at length, “second chance relationships,” later on.  I often find others and even myself stressing the  past so much, that we tend to forget what’s ahead of us. As I always have to tell myself repeatedly, “in any efforts or goals that we set out for ourselves, everything requires patience.”

You know – “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. It didn’t fall in one single day either.

If you are at a point in your life and you feel as though nothing is going right for you, just remember that life takes patience and that tomorrow is always a new chance for you to do something great, despite what you may think.

In closing, I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite quotes.

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”  – Mother Teresa
